Navigating Regulatory Landscapes
Online service providers of adult entertainment, gaming platforms, social media, and other age-sensitive content, are confronted with new regulations implemented in an increasing number of countries, compelling them to verify that their users have the appropriate age to access their services.
Failure to comply compels content providers to suspend their services in these countries. At the same time, the verification process requires users to share sensitive personal data, such as ID cards, credit card details, selfie pictures, etc., and the process can be time consuming.
This results in a decrease of website traffic, either because users are hesitant to share their personal information, or because they abandon the verification process when it is time consuming.
Moreover, the maze of various national regulatory frameworks, represents a new compliance challenge for service providers operating across borders.
